Find, multi-file not working

Hi,

I am a long-time user of BBEdit (but at a low level) and am suddenly
having a problem with Find.

Currently BBEdit is telling me it finds nothing when I search in
folders. I am using terms that I know are present in files in the
folders. I've done this a thousand times successfully in the past so I
do not understand why the searches are suddenly coming up empty. This
persists through restarting my machine (MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.2, BBEdit
8.7.2).

Should I uninstall and reinstall BBEdit? (If so, how do you uninstall?)

Thanks,
Frieda

Check the Multi-File Search options are set to include nested folders
and the appropriate file types. On the find dialog, this is the bottom
right button labeled "Options..."

Also make sure that your grep settings are appropriate for your files.
You can test by opening a file that should match it and performing the
search on that one file to make sure the search is working properly
before searching multiple files.

Errol,

The "search nested folders" box was unchecked in Options. That's the
problem. Thanks!

I had this happen to me last week. I had to go in and manually
'reset' the criteria for multi file search ("Options" button) to be
REALLY blank. No idea why, I just did.

Hi,

Have you checked that at some point you didn’t use the 'exclude matches'
option in the Options of the search panel and left it active?
Forgetting that checked option has caused me the kind of trouble you
describe once or twice...

Regards,

Sophie
